Radar SL – Cherishville

Created by Lam Erin, the region is a project that has been transformed over time and has already won different versions. On this week's visit, I found a Cherishville completely wrapped in autumn: leaf-covered streets, trees in shades of yellow, orange and red, mountains at the bottom and a persistent rain that completely changes the atmosphere of the place. And this time, the rain doesn't stop the ride.

A city of autumn by the water

One of the most beautiful areas of Cherishville is the small town built by the water. Ancient buildings, poles, banks, boats and a pier form a setting that seems to have stopped in another era.

The architecture has that aged aspect that works especially well with the station. Trepandoras take the facades, leaves accumulate along the sidewalks and small establishments appear along the way, including a newsstand that seems to wait for the residents of a city that continues to live even when no one is looking.

At the bottom, the partially snow-covered mountains create a very beautiful contrast to the warm colors of the trees.

Rain is also part of the scene

It's impossible to talk about this Cherishville version without talking about the rain. It follows almost the whole walk and transforms simple surfaces into photographic elements: the wet ground reflects the lighting, small pools form between the leaves and the water gains a cooler aspect under the grey sky.

There are also leaves being carried by the wind, which gives movement to the environment. At times, the combination of rain and reddish trees and the light that passes through the clouds creates especially beautiful scenes.

It was one of those places where I didn't feel like changing the mood to photograph. The original atmosphere already tells the story.

Between the port and the small streets

The pier occupies an important part of the landscape. There are docked boats, wooden buildings by the water and several points where we can simply stop and observe the region.

A bridge crosses part of the canal and helps integrate both sides of the city. Viewed from afar, with the old buildings on one side, the vessels below and the huge mountains at the bottom, it makes up one of the most beautiful landscapes in the region.

But Cherishville works just as well when closely observed. Doors, windows, old plates, pumpkins, bicycles, benches and small objects scattered across the streets make the exploration be rewarded in detail.

When the city meets the countryside

Gradually, the urban environment gives way to a more rural landscape. Old houses appear surrounded by trees, fields and sunflowers. There are barns, animals, an old truck, hay bales and small buildings that seem to belong to a forgotten rural property in some quiet corner of the world.

It's a very natural transition. You leave the streets near the port and shortly after, you stand in front of a house surrounded by vegetation, with animals walking through the terrain and a completely different landscape around.

Pumpkins, corn and autumn activities

A sign between the trees indicates some of the activities spread throughout the region: Pumpkin Carving, Corn Maze, Bonfire and Hayride. There are corn plantations, many pumpkins and small scenarios prepared to take advantage of the autumn theme.

And here it's worth exploring without haste. Cherishville doesn't deliver everything right at the point of arrival. There are paths entering through the vegetation and small hidden areas that can go unnoticed if the visit is made only by flying over the region.

A particularly beautiful setting for photography

For those who photograph at Second Life, Cherishville offers a very interesting combination of elements. The autumn hot palette contrasts with the cold and rainy sky; water and wet ground create reflections; mountains function as natural background; and the variety between city, port and countryside allows to produce quite different photographs without leaving the same region.

There are very beautiful broad frameworks, but I also recommend looking for details. A facade taken by leaves, an old truck, a boat standing on the pier or a small building hidden among the trees can render images as interesting as the great landscapes.

Radar SL Tip

My tip is simple: Don't try to escape the rain. Cherishville was one of those places where the gray sky, the drops falling and the wet ground made the scenery even more beautiful. Walk through the streets, cross the bridge, explore the pier and then head towards the field. Look for the paths between the trees and the little scenes hidden along the way. And if you like photography, enjoy the reflections on the ground and on the water. The autumn colors, the rain and the mountains in the background create a beautiful combination to photograph. Cherishville is not a place to run from one tourist point to another. It's a place for walk, discover and observe.
